We were excited when we entered the probably most beautiful city of the United States via Highway 101. Before us was San Francisco Bay and the magnificent city that's built on it. As Freddy had already been to San Francisco a couple of years ago and stayed there for quite some time, he knew where to lead us. He showed all the major parts of the city, while Ferdi was doing a great job driving up and down the extremely steep streets of the city that had been built on 43 hills.
After we had seen the major parts of the city, we went downtown, where we should meet Freddy's cousin Patrick, who is working for a law firm there. We had to apply our best negotiation skills in order not to get ripped of at the parking lot. On our way to the office building we met the guy, who made our day. He asked us: "What's the best nation?" - Of course, we all answered: "America!" - His reply: "No man, DOnation". In retrospect we should have given him a DOnation just for bringing a smile to our faces.
The employees at Patrick's law firm were welcoming us warmly - especially Freddy, who had done an internship there before. Together with Patrick we then went for to a bar close by to grab some beers. Time flew, and soon we get hungry - time for a Burger! We said goodbye to Patrick and went to the shopping street of San Francisco. It felt so weird to be walking through this part of the city, where you could only see well-dressed people with shopping bags and business people, while one block away one should be careful whom to look in the eye - a city of contrasts. Again, we could enjoy some really nice burgers. As you can see, it is one of my habits to take pictures of food. This is, because a picture comes closest to actually eating it ;-)

It was an intense day, so we were all happy when we were finally on our way to Athena's place, where we would stay for the next two nights. Athena is a friend of Freddy and works in San Francisco as an accountant. We immediately felt at home when she was welcoming us - thank you Athena for letting us into civilization again after three days of camping! You were a great host!
We ended our evening with watching a movie and chilling on the couch - what an awesome day!
